Bendigo Woollen Mills now powered by solar
Bendigo Woollen Mills is Australia's largest hand knitting & crafting yarn mail order manufacturer, their machinery working 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to keep up with customer demand.
In 2021, Cola Solar, now a part of RACV Solar, won a tender to install a solar system on the site. Funded by Sustainability Victoria on behalf of the Victorian Government, the team installed a 96.3kW solar system for Bendigo Woollen Mills in partnership with the Bendigo Sustainability Group.
The installation for Bendigo Woollen Mills was part of the Community Power Hub Loddon Mallee project, which aims to provide local businesses with renewable energy to power their operations. Now the company is paying off the cost of their brand new solar solution using the savings generated from the system.
Bendigo Woollen Mills operates out of a historic building in Bendigo. Built in 1901 by the Bendigo Electric Supply Company, it was originally used to generate coal power. Now it generates clean, renewable energy from solar and provides savings back to tenants.
