Despite collecting toy cars for more than 50 years, Peter’s passion still burns bright – with plans to add more small classics to his prized fleet.

While some people collect real classic cars, a Victorian auto enthusiast proves that you can have just as much fun collecting classic toy cars, showcasing an incredible fleet in the latest instalment of the RACV Collectors series.

With a passion spanning more than 50 years, Peter’s love for toy cars began when he purchased his first ever collectable, an Aston Martin DB5 from the acclaimed James Bond film Thunderball, starring Sean Connery.

“I would have been seven or eight [when I purchased it],” says Peter. “And all the gadgets still work.”

Peter’s enjoyment for his collection hasn’t wavered in the decades since, adding one or two toy cars each year and using the internet in recent years to hunt down increasingly rare pieces.

In fact, Peter's passion for cars is so strong that he even bought a 1972 MGB Overdrive Mark Two to get behind the wheel of one of his favourite brands to collect.

“I just love the shape of it, the feel, the look,” Peter adds about his vintage MG roadster. “The wind in my hair, that’s me. That’s why I love it.”

Is this incredible toy car collection complete? According to Peter, “It’s a question I could ask myself forever and ever."
