Targeted solar and energy efficiency upgrades across RACV resorts and corporate offices assist in the transition to a cleaner energy future.

RACV's commitment to a cleaner energy future has seen the business embrace solar power and energy-efficiency initiatives across our properties, including RACV Cape Schanck, RACV Torquay and RACV City Club in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.

The energy efficiency program, which began in 2019, has delivered a 37 per cent reduction in energy usage for the business, while also generating more than 5.5 million kWh of renewable energy through rooftop solar.

“Since 2019, RACV has committed to a significant energy efficiency investment plan where in the past we’d taken an ad hoc approach to managing energy across our portfolio," says Josh Porter, General Manager of Property and Capital Works at RACV.

“It’s very important to be nimble in this space because the technology is always changing and the benefits that can be realised are significant,” Porter adds.

Since the implementation of the plan, RACV has moved to 100% renewable energy sourced from Snowy Hydro across its Victorian resorts and corporate offices, installed 2,700 solar panels across resorts and corporate offices nationwide, and switched over 17,000 light fittings to energy-efficient LED lights.

Cost-effective solar investments for households

RACV empowers its Members and customers to transition to a cleaner energy future and save on energy costs through solar power, solar batteries, heat pump hot water, LED lighting and more energy-efficient products and services.

The transition to a cleaner energy future is gaining pace. Australia leads the world in rooftop solar uptake, with over 30 per cent of rooftops now equipped with solar panels. Households are now turning to renewable solar energy to power everything from heating and cooling to electric vehicle charging, reducing energy bills in the process.
