best way to sell a car privately and the legal obligations

    question

I am hoping to sell my car privately. What is the best way to do this and what are my legal obligations?

    answer

The best way to sell a car is to advertise its positive points. For example: low mileage; accessories; one owner status and; so forth. Classified ads such as the Trading Post and online car sales sites are good places to start. When you are placing an ad in the classifieds, choose the bold type printed options.

Using photo ads if the car is well presented will help with a quick sale.

Legally, if the vehicle is registered, the seller must provide the roadworthy certificate, and you should obtain a transfer of registration form from VicRoads to give to the buyer of you vehicle when payment occurs.
