community involvement

In addition to financial support provided by RACV and the RACV Community Foundation, our staff throughout Victoria are actively involved in community support activities. The generosity of staff and the service they provide to the Victorian community is integral to RACV’s mission.

Our staff are engaged with our selected partnership organisations, serving as volunteers representing RACV at community activities and events.

In addition, RACV staff provide financial support via donations to the RACV Community Foundation. These donations, together with those from our members, help fund grants made on behalf of the RACV Community Foundation to charitable and non-for-profit groups carrying out activities or projects that benefit the community.

Each year RACV supports Blue Ribbon Day on 29 September.

Blue Ribbon Day remembers the heroic actions of police who have given their lives in the line of duty and also provides an opportunity to thank the men and women in blue for serving us so well.

For several years, RACV Insurance has been a strong supporter of the Fire Awareness Awards, which promotes preparation as the key to dealing with fire emergencies.

The awards are organised by the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, the Country Fire Authority, the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, and other related organisations.

Each year the Fire Awareness Awards recognise the efforts of individuals, groups and organisations who have developed initiatives to reduce the incidence and impact of fire in the broader Victorian Community, local organisation or in a workplace.

RACV assists veterans on anzac day

RACV has been closely involved in the welfare of veterans since World War I, when RACV members met hospital ships at Station Pier to welcome soldiers home and take the wounded to Caulfield Military Hospital. RACV continues the tradition by helping to transport veterans on Anzac Day.

RACV coordinates volunteer transport for diggers unable to walk the distance to the Shrine in the Melbourne Anzac Day march on 25 April each year.

Medically restricted veterans are picked up by volunteers at their homes, driven to the city, then in the march to the Shrine, where special seating and refreshments are provided. Volunteer drivers later transport veterans home.

staff volunteer program

RACV staff volunteers

RACV has a strong program of community support established through our community partnerships, sponsorships and activities. The RACV Staff Volunteer Program is a way we can build on our contribution and provide practical hands-on support to the community.

The volunteer program provides RACV staff with a paid day each calendar year to volunteer with one of our community partners or the RACV Community Foundation.

Each year, RACV staff volunteers participate in a diverse range of activities. Examples include school planting days with Greening Australia, revegetation work at Healesville Sanctuary, Starlight Escapes at RACV Resorts, Cancer Council fundraising activities, support for Independence Australia's visual arts program and the Kids at the Arts Centre program, as well as the annual RACV Community Foundation Golf day.

These are just some of the activities carried out by our dedicated staff.
