features of RACV landlord insurance
theft or malicious damage
If your rental property suffers loss or damage caused by theft, attempted theft, vandalism or a malicious act by your tenant or their guest, you're covered for up to a maximum of $10,000* for buildings and/or contents.
rent default
If your tenant stops paying rent, including if they leave without notice, during the term of the rental agreement, you're covered for up to a maximum of $5,000*.
legal fees
If we have agreed to pay a claim for rent default, we will also pay you up to a maximum of $5,000 towards legal costs to help recover the rent owed to you.
loss of rent
You're covered up to a maximum of 12 months rent if your tenant cannot live at your rental property while it is being repaired as a result of certain insured incidences such as storm or earthquake. However you must have a valid rental agreement.
liability cover
You're covered if you are legally liable to pay compensation for death or bodily injury to other people, or for damage to their property occurring on your rental property, for up to $20 million "plus legal costs".
*A valid written rental agreement is required. We will deduct from your claim four times the weekly rent in addition to any excess that applies.
