Used Car Safety Ratings (UCSR) helps you identify the safer models when you are purchasing a second-hand vehicle. Based on records of over 2.8 million vehicles involved in crashes on Australian and New Zealand roads, vehicles are rated according to their on-road crash performance. 279 individual vehicle models built between 1986 and 2005 have been rated.

It is recommended buyers choose a vehicle with a 'How much is your vehicle likely to protect you?' rating of Significantly better than average or Better than average and at a minimum, Average. It is also recommended drivers choose a vehicle with a 'How seriously is your vehicle likely to harm another road user?' rating of Significantly less harm to other road users than average or Less harm than average.
