Everybody knows that a car should be serviced at regular intervals; usually every 5,000 - 10,000 kilometres, but you should be making a round of the car once a week. Since the advent of self-service petrol stations, the weekly check has become neglected, but is still an extremely important part of good maintenance. Regular checks provide a good picture of the cars condition and any sudden change can be a warning of developing problems. Catching the problem early may prevent serious and expensive damage.
