RACV Extra Care is for motorists who want to feel more secure with their motoring by having extra benefits available to them should their nominated vehicle or motorcycle break down or be involved in an accident. Extra Care offers up to $10,000 in additional benefits per year to assist you Australia wide.

RACV members now receive Years of Membership Benefits on their emergency roadside assistance*. So most members will now pay even less for the peace of mind of having RACV on call 24 hours a day.

Normal establishment fee of $50 is waived for current and new members joining Extra Care.

24-hour waiting period applies after joining or changing a nominated vehicle on Extra Care (with the exception of blue cardholders, where the wait period for Extended Benefits is 7 days).

- **Members who have completed 50 years of continuous RACV membership are eligible to receive free Roadside Care for one vehicle. Gold 50 cardholders choosing to upgrade to Extra Care or Total Care will receive a 20% discount off the difference in price.

towing
If we cannot get your vehicle going, we will arrange for it to be towed to a repairer. This includes:
- In Metropolitan Areas, the first 30km in any direction, from the point of breakdown is free of charge
- In Country Areas, the first 30km in any direction, from the point of breakdown is free of charge, or back to the attending service centre.
trailer and caravan assistance
When a trailer or caravan is being towed by your vehicle breaks down, RACV will assist with repairs such as a wheel changing and the servicing of external lighting. Where we are unable to fix your trailer RACV will provide in Metropolitan Areas, the first 30km in any direction, from the point of breakdown is free of charge or in the country the first 30km in any direction, from the point of breakdown is free of charge, or back to the attending Service Centre.
If you are under 100 km from home where Mechanical Breakdown occurs and your Vehicle, caravan or Trailer is Disabled and has been towed to claim a combination of benefits up to $180 (in total per incident) until the End of the Incident.
If you are more than 100 km from home and where Mechanical Breakdown occurs and your Vehicle, caravan or Trailer is Disabled and has been towed to a Place of Repair, you may claim a combination of the following benefits up to $1,400 (in total per incident). Where the Vehicle, caravan or Trailer is unable to be repaired within 3 business days at the Place of Repair to which it has been towed, RACV may attempt to find or offer an alternative Place of Repair. If repairs still cannot be effected within three business days you have the option of having your Vehicle transported to a destination of your choice within Australia. The benefits listed above will apply until the End of the Incident.
benefits when over 100km from home
Should you be on a longer journey and your vehicle breaks down or is involved in an accident, RACV will contribute up to $1,400 (in total per incident) towards a pool of benefits to assist you while your car is being repaired. These include any combination of the following:
- Accommodation
- Rental vehicle
- Taxi fares (up to a limit of 3 trips of $60 each)
- Alternative transportation
benefits when under 100km from home
If you are out on the road and not too far from home, we will assist you if your nominated vehicle becomes disabled and requires a tow. RACV Extra Care entitles you to a pool of benefits up to the value of $180 (in total per incident) which includes any combination of the following:
- Alternative transportation
- Taxi fares (up to a limit of 3 trips of $60 each)
- Courier/s
locksmith, special towing equipment & trailer hire
We also provide you extra assistance at the time of breakdown, with up to $220 (per incident) in any combination of locksmith services, trailer hire or special towing equipment.
free fuel
When your vehicle runs out of fuel, RACV will supply up to 5 litres of fuel (in Victoria) to get your car to the nearest service station.
emergency roadside assistance
You get 12 service calls per subscription year.
When you need the added benefits of RACV Extra Care, simply call 1800 333 300. You will be put in contact with a Care Consultant who will make all of the necessary arrangements on your behalf, including:
- Emergency roadside assistance - for when you have a flat tyre, a flat battery, when you require a tow, a tow truck or when you have run out of fuel
- Extended benefits - for assistance in organising benefits if locked your keys in the vehicle or your vehicle will not start, accommodation and rental vehicle
