RACV has partnered with Melbourne food charity, FareShare, to create a kitchen garden to help meet the charity’s year-round needs for fresh vegetables. RACV is the founding partner of the FareShare Kitchen Garden program.
The first FareShare kitchen garden will be next to Victoria Park Train Station, Lulie St, Abbotsford, on land owned by VicTrack. Funding from RACV will enable the Abbotsford garden to be created and help FareShare to keep up with growing demand for meals. FareShare cooks more than one million meals a year, which are provided free to charities operating food banks and other welfare services.
FareShare will work with eight RACV sites – City Club and resorts and shops across regional Victoria. In working with managers and staff at these sites, FareShare and RACV can identify local community charity partners that could benefit from FareShare’s meals. Look out for volunteer opportunities for RACV members in the FareShare Kitchen Gardens Abbotsford kitchen.
