RACV’s RoyalAuto is a finalist in two Australian Magazine Awards for excellence in multimedia and feature writing.

RoyalAuto, which appears in digital and print, is a finalist for its broadcast project Impact, a year-long project that followed survivors of road trauma to recovery.

The project team of RACV’s experienced media professionals and public policy experts partnered with health and emergency services leaders to craft and broadcast a quality multimedia series and a long-form feature story about the living road toll and the behaviour changes needed to make a difference.

The announcement comes a month after the 2017 Publish Awards named RoyalAuto a finalist in seven categories for excellence in publishing, the most for any single title.

In the two awards, RoyalAuto is up against established media players (News Corporation, Fairfax, Pacific Magazines, Qantas) as well as new media companies such as Junkee, Buzzfeed and other dedicated digital publishers.

RACV Publisher Alison Dean says the awards are “a testament to the quality of work that can be produced by a small, dedicated team of professionals”.

“We hope the series will continue to impact people’s behaviour on the road.”

The RoyalAuto team won the Melbourne Press Club TAC Quill Award for excellence in journalism on the issue of road safety in March this year. The multi-media project that won the award can be seen at racv.com.au/impact.
