Plumber

Accidents will happen, and it seems that plumbers are the emergency tradie of choice as Victorians wrestle with misbehaving toilets, showers and pipes.

In the year to 30 June, 7489 RACV members called Emergency Home Assist for help with a blocked toilet, pipe or drain, the most common home emergency attended by EHA tradespeople.

The next most common home emergency was a burst tap or shower head, with 6356 members calling on EHA to keep them high and dry. Blackouts and power failures accounted for 5943 emergency callouts.

RACV came to the aid of more than 240,000 people across Victoria in areas as diverse as vehicle insurance, property insurance, home emergencies and home security in the past financial year.

More than 122,000 members were helped with vehicle insurance claims and more than 39,000 with property claims. EHA helped more than 48,000 Victorians and RACV Home Security managed more than 33,000 alarm activations across the state.

Emergency Roadside Assist figures will be released later.
