RACV’s yellow vans are a familiar and welcome sight in the community. They are synonymous with RACV’s proud history of providing quality Emergency Roadside Assistance to members.

Many of you will have noticed that new, larger yellow vans are servicing members’ new-tyre needs at their homes and workplaces with the RACV Mobile Tyre Service.

This month I am pleased to announce a further initiative with the expansion of RACV Car Share across Melbourne’s inner suburbs as we look to further expand the range of services to our 2.1 million members across Victoria. Car Share is a flexible and convenient alternative to traditional car ownership.

A growing number of Victorians are seeking alternatives to driving their own car to serve their various transport needs. This trend is driven by growing urbanisation, worsening congestion and the emergence of options such as car share, ride share and Melbourne Bike Share.

RACV seeks to serve the mobility needs of members, as well as the wider community, across a range of transport modes to help Victorians get to where they need to be more conveniently.

RACV has a vision to identify transport options that are easy to use, cost-effective and personalised. RACV Car Share is an example of a new service that seeks to benefit those looking beyond traditional car ownership.

For families who occasionally need access to a second car, or inner-city workers who need a car during their work day after taking public transport to the city, RACV Car Share provides convenient, cost-effective, flexible access to a car 24/7, without the costs of ownership.

We have successfully trialled Car Share and we are now scaling up with plans for more cars over the next year.

RACV’s Car Share pilot program, which comprised three Toyota Hybrid Priuses based at the RACV’s City Club, has been extended with nine Mitsubishi ASXs in Carlton, East Melbourne, North Melbourne, Southbank, Docklands and Flagstaff Gardens. Car Share is free to join and those who sign up to Car Share automatically receive personal RACV membership.

As I look at our past and to our future, RACV has a prominent and proud history in the travel and hospitality sectors. Our records show that we have helped members and all Victorians in their travels; RACV was among the first to advocate for tourist road signs, caravan parks and quality holiday accommodation.

At the same time, we have offered a Club Membership for many years that provides exclusive social and business access to the City Club on Bourke Street and our Country Club in Healesville. Both properties have been highly commended nationally for their comfort and hospitality.

I am pleased to inform you that RACV Torquay Resort recently won the award for best First Night Honeymoon Accommodation (Victoria) at the 2017 Australian Bridal Industry Awards, for the third year in a row.

This is one of several awards RACV’s eight resorts won during the year. We currently have a number of exclusive offers to members to enjoy a break at RACV resorts, so you can experience some of our award-winning hospitality. I invite all members to check them out on our website.
