Eight reasons you won’t want to miss the Melbourne Boat Show
Fall hook, line and sinker for this year’s RACV Marine Boat Show.
If you’re into all things nautical the RACV Marine 2019 Boat Show, which is held from 13 to 16 June at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, is the place to head this weekend. There’s a flotilla of boats, water craft and other gear to whet the appetite of every avid angler and aspiring explorer of the high seas. But if that’s not enough to hook you, we have eight exceptional reasons to really reel you in.
Eight reasons to visit the Melbourne Boat Show
1. Go fishing with Dave Marciano, AKA Wicked Tuna
Fishing a-fish-ionados, listen up: the big tuna is coming to Melbourne. That’s right, Dave Marciano (pictured below), host of cult reality fishing show Wicked Tuna, will be bringing his brand of bluefin adventures down under, giving fans a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with the merry mariner. He’ll be joined by a host of other celebrities from the fishing fraternity with their tales about the ones that didn’t get away.
2. Discover some of Melbourne’s secret fishing spots with AFN’s Bill Classon
Whether you’re an expert angler or just starting out, the Australian Fishing Network has something to suit fisherfolk of all abilities. And, in this special presentation, AFN oracle Bill Classon will give you the inside scoop on some of Melbourne’s best fishing spots.
3. Swap fishing stories with Richmond premiership player Patrick Dangerfield
Aaron Habgood has become one of Australia’s top fishing talents and, in the special Q&A event, he’ll be talking all things tackle with AFL superstar and self-confessed fishing tragic Patrick Dangerfield.
4. Cook up a seafood storm with The Atlantic executive chef Nick Mahlook
From cooking in coastal kitchens to working in some of the city’s most respected restaurants, Nick Mahlook is built to captain The Atlantic ship. Catch his cooking demonstration on the best ways to cook with Victorian seafood.
5. Learn the art of the lure with squid king Paul Carter
If you like squid, you’ll love learning the Japanese art of luring it with Paul ‘Kuma’ Carter. Paul, who also answers to ‘Squid King’, has been fishing since he was knee-high to a grasshopper and has travelled across the globe learning fishing techniques from the world’s best.
6. Fun for the whole family
There’s plenty to amuse the tiddlers, too, with face painting, fishing simulators, marine life touch tanks and a 65-metre zip-line ride.
7. You could win some epic prizes
If you don’t want to buy a new boat, how would you like to win one? Enter the draw to win a Northbank 500C, with its own Easytow trailer and Mercury outboard, making it the complete package to get you on the water in no time.
But if you already own the boat of your dreams, you might prefer the other major prize, a Volkswagen Amarok V6 Sportline. It will get you to your nearest boat ramp in style, with the power to pull any boat or jet ski with ease.
8. Go in the draw to win a once-in-a-lifetime, money-can’t-buy adventure
Two lucky fisherman fiends could also be casting off on a Proline Fishing Charters trip with American superstar Dave Marciano. You’ve probably seen Captain Dave and his family featured on the National Geographic reality television show Wicked Tuna that charts the battle for bluefin tuna fishing supremacy in the waters off Massachusetts. The lucky winners will travel to Portland and join Captain Dave for a two-day deep-water fishing odyssey.
Plus, if you come to see us at the RACV stand, you can get $20 off your next RACV Marine battery and, while you’re there, also ask about our special finance deal – you could save $400 off your next boat loan with our ‘no establishment fees’ offer.
