Don Farrands, author of The Glass Soldier, reveals the story of his grandfather, Nelson Ferguson, who volunteered in The Great War.

After being gassed and blinded in April 1918, Ferguson was repatriated to Australia before a corneal transplant restored his sight in the late 1960s.
