Closed circuit television (CCTV) is a visual surveillance technology designed for viewing a variety of environments and activities all at the same time.  The images collected by the CCTV security cameras are sent to a monitor and may be stored on a digital video recorder (DVR).  A communication link is used between the CCTV security camera and monitor.

A security camera will record images when the viewer senses movement and the image can be viewed via monitor.

CCTV systems may provide real-time, time-lapse, event, or digitally recorded surveillance information for security and safety related incidents.
