	International Driving Permits (IDPs) entitle the holder to drive motor vehicles specified in the IDP and in all counteracting countries without further examination. In addition it may be a prerequisite for renting a car in many countries. In Australia, the Government appointed the Australian Automobile Association as the only authority to issue permits. The RACV issues IDPs through RACV Shops. An IDP is a widely recognised document and is useful for photo identification purposes. It is a translation of your driver's licence and must be accompanied by a valid Australian Driver's Licence at all times. Please note: An IDP is not a stand-alone document. Is valid for 12 months. Passport photos must be on photographic quality paper. Standard copy paper will not be accepted. IDP photos are available for purchase at selected RACV Shops. Note: If applying for an IDP through an RACV shop, an application form is not required. If applying for an IDP outside of Australia print out the IDP application form provided and enclose a clear copy of your current Australian Driver's Licence (both front and back), a recent passport size photo and payment including postage fees.
