Sun sets over the golf course at Royal Pines RACV Resort

A big summer of golf is in store at RACV Royal Pines Resort.

The list of upcoming events at this renowned course is headlined by one of Australia’s biggest professional events, the Australian PGA Championship, which will take place from 1-4 December 2016 and features a host of big names, including Australian and world number 8, Adam Scott.

“The preparation of the course for the Australian PGA Championship will start in the next couple of weeks,” Manager of Golf, Sport and Leisure at Royal Pines, David Hogben says.

“Our maintenance staff are prepping for the tournament from the start of spring, working hard to ensure all surfaces are in tournament condition.”

Designed by one of Australia’s former leading professional golfers Graham Marsh, the RACV Royal Pines course underwent an $11 million redevelopment in 2014-15 and is highly regarded by amateur and professional golfers alike.

While nine of the 27-hole complex will remain open to the public, the Royal Pines’ championship course will be off-limits for nine days over the duration of the Australian PGA Championship. After that, however, it will be available for anyone to come and test their skills or just enjoy a social round of golf.

“Most of the big tournaments around the world are staged at exclusive private courses,” David says.

“RACV Royal Pines is one of the few courses that not only stages major professional tournaments but also remains accessible to our members and the general public.

“We encourage anyone who loves their golf to come and walk in the footsteps of the professionals while enjoying one of Australia’s best courses.”
