Turkish Guest Chef – Murat Ovaz

Time: Arrive 6pm for 6.30pm start

Cost: $95 per person, includes four-course Turkish-inspired modern menu with glass of wine on arrival. Turkish wine matched to each course is available for an additional $44 per person.

Murat Ovaz has had a swift rise to success since moving to Australia. Having worked in several five-star hotels on Turkey’s eastern coast, Murat moved to Istanbul to work at Greek restaurant, Zarifi, and the highly respected French restaurant, Park Samdan.

In 2009, Murat moved from Istanbul to Newcastle, beginning his Australian cooking career at the Newcastle pub, Lass O’ Gowrie, having success with his traditional cooking techniques and flavours. Murat later moved to Sydney with his former sous chef, Thomas Robinson, to work for one of Sydney’s most famous chefs, My Kitchen Rules’ star Colin Fassnidge.

Murat then moved to Melbourne and became head chef of Balaclava restaurant, Tulum. After 10 months, he opened his own restaurant, Yagiz.
