Improving Your Club for the Future

New courtyard designs for RACV City Club

We recently surveyed members on what they most love about the Club, and what they would change if they could. One of the many findings to emerge was the need to modernise our spaces and keep the Club fresh for future generations of members. We are now using this feedback to make improvements to the Club.

Responding to Club member feedback, the courtyard will feature a fresh and modern new look, a contemporary permanent bar, additional upgraded seating, new restrooms, landscaping to create a lush green space and direct access from Bourke Street.

This new entrance to the courtyard will provide improved access for members and their guests, and will also help to build awareness of the Club by others. Club members will receive exclusive discounts and benefits in the new courtyard, and all other Club facilities remain exclusively for use by members only, and their guests.

We look forward to welcoming Club members to this revitalised space when it reopens in 2019.

We're excited to announce our new coffee partnership with Lavazza. Members can now enjoy Lavazza coffee in all dining venues at Club and Resorts.

Portrait of Jason Camillo, head cheft at RACV City Club

RACV Club's new executive chef, Jason Camillo, joins the City Club team on 28 August 2018.

Originally from the Barossa Valley, Jason began his culinary career with Hyatt Regency Adelaide as an apprentice and has worked at Adelaide Festival Centre and the Grand Hyatt Melbourne.

Jason is dedicated to using only the best local produce - a passion that stems from his Italian heritage and upbringing in one of Australia's best-known food regions.

Jason has collected many awards during his career and has cooked for Queen Elizabeth II, Andy Roddick, members of U2, John Howard and Bill Clinton.

We look forward to seeing and tasting Jason's culinary creations at City Club in the near future.

Road Closure Information - Southbank Boulevard and Dodds Street

From 16 July 2018, construction will start to take place to create 2.5 hectares of new public open space on the Southbank Boulevard and Dodds Street. The project will be undertaken in stages and is expected to take 18 months to complete. Starting on the 16 July 2018, Southbank Boulevard will be closed to all traffic between St Kilda Road and Sturt Street. Trams will continue to operate and the precinct will remain open to pedestrians.

To ensure that access to the Arts Precinct, including the Arts Centre Melbourne car park and the Australian Ballet car park, is maintained during construction, detours will be put into place.

A temporary detour via Grant Street will be created for Northbound traffic on St Kilda Road, while traffic from Linlithgow Avenue will need to use the City Road exit to access the Arts precinct. All access to and from the Arts Centre Melbourne car park will be from Sturt Street.

Traffic exiting the city and heading south will need to use Linlithgow Avenue and City Road or Park Street to access Kings Way and the Westgate Freeway. Alternatively, traffic can exit the Central City using Queens Bridge Street.

City Club Outstanding Award Achievement

The RACV City Club Wine List has been inducted into the Hall of Fame and awarded a 3 Glass (Outstanding) Rating in this year's Australia's Wine List of the Year Awards.

RACV chefs win big at the Savour Patissier of the Year 2017

Award Winning Eclair

After three days of hectic competition, two RACV chefs were awarded equal second place in the Savour Patissier of the Year 2017 competition. Josh Cochrane (who also took out first place for best eclair and People’s Choice award) and Michael Gimanos from City Club missed out by only a few points to the winner from Biblot.

The best pastry chefs from around the globe travelled to Melbourne, to battle it out at the second annual Savour Patissier of the Year competition. Held at Foodservice Australia from 28-30 May 2017, patisserie professionals showcased their skills and expertise before a world-class judging panel.

Second place is a great reward for the extensive training and commitment displayed by Josh and Michael.

Josh's winning eclair – pineapple and rosemary with salted caramel – was a delicious limited edition offer in le Petit Gateau following the competition. See the Le Petit Gateau website for the full range of cakes currently available.

Congratulations to our Bridge Club member Frank Vearing who recently achieved Grand Master status in Australian Bridge.

Bridge is a partnership game, easy to learn but never mastered.

Frank would like to acknowledge his RACV partner Jo Heywood and the support of the Bridge group in general.

The Bridge Club is now ranked 14th in Victoria and is continuing to grow.

Important announcement about bicycle theft

While we love and treasure our trusty steeds, we must keep them safe. Sadly, there have recently been a number of bike thefts in public places in the vicinity of the City Club car park. We encourage all members parking in the area to secure your bikes as best as possible. Although even bikes locked with thick, coiled wire-strand locks can prove to be no match for the bolt cutters carried by well-prepared thieves.

RACV takes pride in providing a place to store your bike, however we must remind members that storage of bicycles is at the owner’s risk. RACV assumes no liability for the loss or theft of any bicycle left on premises.

Most importantly, we encourage everyone to check your current bike lock and decide if it is up to the task. If in doubt – time to upgrade.

Changing or Cancelling your RACV Resort Booking

To ensure the best possible experience at RACV Resorts for members and guests, we would like to take this opportunity to remind members about the resort cancellation policy.

If you need to make a cancellation or amendment to an existing booking, please contact the resort as soon as possible to ensure the room can be made available to other members wishing to stay at the resort. This is especially important for school holidays and other peak periods when rooms are in high demand.

Please ensure all changes including cancellation to bookings are made before 2pm on the day prior to your arrival, or 14 days before your arrival in the case of peak periods, to avoid any fees.
