RACV takes on globally significant solar installation
RACV lifts clean energy investment with large-scale shopping centre project.
RACV has entered into an arrangement with renewable energy company CEP.Energy to install a globally significant solar and battery system at Australia’s largest privately owned shopping centre.
The solar system, to be installed at Narellan Town Centre in southwest Sydney, comprises a 2.62MW (megawatt) solar installation and 10MWh (megawatt hours) battery storage system. With more than 5000 solar panels covering 12,577 square metres, and battery storage equivalent to 740 Tesla home batteries, it is RACV’s largest solar installation to date.
CEP.Energy, which partners with commercial and industrial property owners to fund, develop and operate advanced renewable microgrids, is leading the project and has engaged RACV in an engineering, procurement and construction agreement to install the system.
The project promises to provide long-term benefits through a 30-year agreement that will reduce electricity costs for landlords and tenants. It will also offer market services to support the grid.
The Narellan Town Centre project is RACV's biggest solar installation to date.
RACV Solar chief executive officer Andy McCarthy says the sheer scale of the project and the positive benefits it will provide is a significant milestone for RACV.
“This very large project in New South Wales is the perfect opportunity to continue RACV’s focus on providing solar and battery systems for both commercial and residential customers across Australia,” Andy says. “It contributes to RACV’s ongoing and increasingly significant investment in cleaner energy.
