Like father, like daughter: Mansfield family rescues stranded Victorians this Father's Day

While many Victorian families will spend Father's Day together around the breakfast table, Karl Corpe and his daughters will be answering roadside rescue calls for stranded motorists.

Since 2014, Karl Corpe (56), owner of K&M Automotive 4x4, and his team have delivered RACV Emergency Roadside Assistance services across Mansfield and Victoria's Alpine region, coming to the aid of thousands of stranded motorists.

Today, he works alongside daughters Mellissa Corpe (31), a qualified auto electrician and roadside assistance patrol driver, Shannon Wiseman (27), the depot's office manager, and Jessica Corpe (24), a qualified mechanic and roadside assistance patrol driver, with each playing a key role in helping RACV Members across the region.

Together, the family-run depot attends an average of around 2,500 RACV Emergency Roadside Assistance callouts each year, helping motorists across Mansfield, Mt Buller and Victoria's High Country.

Karl Corpe said working alongside his daughters was one of the highlights of his career.

"I'm incredibly proud to see my daughters build careers in the industry and help people every day," Mr Corpe said.

"Helping RACV members is something we've done as a family for years. Every callout is different, but the goal is always the same – to get people safely back on the road. Being able to do that together makes it even more special."

Mr Corpe said the team regularly manages fluctuating demand throughout the year, particularly during peak travel periods across the Alpine region.

"We see all sorts of jobs. Winter is traditionally one of our busy periods, with more battery-related issues and flat tyres as visitors head to the snow," Mr Corpe said.

Jessica Corpe said helping motorists through stressful situations is what makes the work worthwhile.

"No two days are ever the same, and that's what I enjoy most about the job," she said.

"Whether it's changing a tyre, towing a vehicle or helping someone whose car has broken down on the side of the road, it's a great feeling knowing you've been able to get them moving again."

This Father's Day, the Corpe family will once again be helping Victorian motorists get back on the road, proving it's a family business built on going the extra mile.
