Victoria’s leading transport advocate RACV, together with the other state motoring clubs and the Australian Automobile Association (AAA), has announced the 15 winners of the 2016 Australia's Best Cars awards.
Australia's Best Cars is an independent, consumer focussed new car assessment program.
RACV motoring writer and test judge, Greg Hill said Australia's Best Cars evaluated the vehicles that potential buyers are comparing using 15 different consumer focussed categories.
“This testing puts more than 150 vehicles through their paces each year against criteria such as Value for Money, Design and Function, and On Road Performance.
“A winning vehicle not only has to be good to drive, it also needs to score well in value for money, safety and all the long term ownership aspects such as warranty, servicing and repair costs, dealer access, insurance and fuel consumption.”
RACV judge, Lisa Luscombe said space and comfort relative to others in the same vehicle class also play an important role in the judging process.
“The scoring system is based on the type of questions our members are asking. The awards help give all Australian car buyers the information they need when considering which vehicle is the right one for them,” she said.
The winner of the Judges’ Choice award for 2016 was the Mazda6 Touring.
The judges said the Mazda 6 Touring impressed with its impressive suite of advance safety features which are standard across the range.
“Mazda deserve to be commended for making these potentially lifesaving safety features available to mainstream buyers. In most other brands they are usually only available in luxury or top of the line models and often as an extra cost option,” Mr Hill said.
