Together with Netball Victoria, RACV is recognising volunteers who contribute thousands of hours each year to make netball successful through a new RACV Local Hero Monthly Award as well as a sponsorship of the annual Netball Victoria Volunteer of the Year Award.
Beginning this month, RACV will award a local hero who has made an exceptional contribution to the sport of netball in their community. To enter the competition, affiliated Netball clubs and associations are invited to nominate a volunteer by stating in a 100 words or less, why they should receive the award. The monthly winner will be selected by RACV and will receive a $250 RACV gift card. The competition will run until the end of the netball season. These nominations will also be considered for the RACV Netball Victoria Volunteer of the Year Award.
RACV will also support the Netball Victoria Volunteer of the Year Award announced at the annual awards ceremony in October. The award recognises outstanding services to netball in the areas of administration, officiating and volunteering. The award provides tangible recognition for the efforts of individuals in improving and developing the sport of netball. The winner will receive a $1,000 RACV gift card and their club will receive a $2,000 donation.
Netball Victoria Chief Executive Officer, Rosie King, was thrilled with the additional recognition of local volunteers. “Celebrating the efforts of volunteers is so important, they provide such invaluable support and we are so grateful for all of our netball volunteers. Acknowledging their work also highlights the importance of their contributions, and can encourage others to lend a hand to their local clubs and associations. It is wonderful to see RACV show its support for our volunteers, this support will help make our netball community stronger,” said King.
RACV Acting General Manager for Community and Corporate Responsibility, Megan Ballantyne said “On behalf of our more than two million members, RACV is pleased to continue our long history of partnership with Netball Victoria – this time in support of the volunteers that make such a difference in our local communities. From coordinating team schedules to officiating the matches, Netball clubs and associations rely heavily on volunteers and we are honoured to recognise their selfless efforts.”
