How it works

  • Buy your annual plan

    Pay a flat rate of $259 annually (or $21.58 monthly)^. If you’re already an RACV Member you could be eligible for loyalty discounts.

    A 72-hour waiting period applies.

  • If you have an emergency, call 13 46 63 anytime

    We'll send a qualified tradie to you, usually within the hour. Your plan includes unlimited* emergency callouts, 24/7.

  • They’ll get to work

    Many emergencies can be fixed on the spot. If yours can’t, the tradie will provide a temporary fix to make the area safe.

  • We let you know next steps

    If further work is required for a full repair, your tradie will provide a no-obligation quote through RACV Trades.

Emergencies included in your plan

Emergency Home Assist provides access to plumbers, electricians, and locksmiths in a home emergency. Here are some common jobs we can help with.

Blocked toilet, pipe or drain

Causing overflow or backup, stopping water flowing through the outlet.

Internal leaks

Water leaking down walls or through your ceiling due to blocked downpipes, gutters or damaged roof. 

Broken tap or shower

Causing damage to your home or property, or substantial water wastage (excludes dripping taps and shower heads).

Broken heating or cooling system

Due to faulty components, gas issues, or if you're unable to reignite the pilot light.

Burst pipe

Causing significant water wastage or water damage to your property.

Gas leak

If a gas pipe has been damaged and is leaking, we'll repair the leak or isolate the gas line to make it safe.

Faulty or burst hot water system

Due to a gas issue, faulty components, or if you're unable to reignite the pilot light.

Power or lighting fault

Due to electrical faults (excludes area-wide power outages and blackouts).

Broken air-conditioning system

We’ll assess the cause of the fault and repair if possible.

Faulty hot water system

Due to faulty components or electrical issues.

Internal leaks in light fittings or fixtures

We will isolate power from the affected area.

Locked out of the house

We will get you safely back inside.

Broken or jammed doors or windows

If your home security is threatened, we’ll make it safe.

Broken glass impacting safety and security

We will make the area safe and clean up (excludes glass replacement).

RACV Trades can also help you find the right tradie for non-urgent or maintenance jobs.

Emergency Home Assist has a 72-hour waiting period before emergency callouts can be made.

If you need immediate help, you can purchase a single callout for $299 by calling 13 46 63 (help usually arrives within the hour).

If you’ve been an RACV Member for 5 years or more, you get a loyalty discount on an annual subscription with Emergency Home Assist as part of our Years of Membership benefits.

  • Bronze Member (5-9 years) save 5% - $246.05 annually or $20.98 monthly
  • Silver Member (10-24 years) save 10% - $233.10 annually or $19.88 monthly
  • Gold Member (25-50 years) save 15% - $220.15 annually or $18.77 monthly
  • Gold 50 Member (51+ years) save 20% - $207.20 annually or $17.67 monthly

The monthly instalment option includes a 50c administration fee per month, equivalent to $6 per year.

Member discounts don't apply to emergency callouts outside of an Emergency Home Assist plan.

We aim to get a tradesperson to you within the hour.

This response time is not guaranteed and can vary depending on your location, demand for services, or weather and traffic conditions.

You'll get a text notification once a tradie has been assigned. Please make sure you're home for when the tradie arrives.

Our team is available 24/7 to handle plumbing, locksmith and electrical emergencies. If you need assistance now, call 13 46 63.

The price includes the cost of some minor parts and materials.

It does not include certain parts or materials, such as:

  • windows, doors, door handles or glass
  • fixed plumbing apparatuses including sinks and taps
  • light fittings, power points and switch boards.

Your Emergency Home Assist plan is for urgent repairs.

It does not cover general maintenance and non-urgent repairs, such as:

  • dripping taps
  • installing or changing light globes
  • installing a new sink, toilet or shower head
  • installing a new hot water system.

If the job requires a specialist trade (e.g. hydronic heating specialist) or a specialist part, a free quote will be provided for additional work.

RACV Trades can help you find the right tradie for non-urgent or maintenance jobs.

RACV Emergency Home Assist is only available for residential properties of homeowners or their managing agents. This includes houses, duplexes, flats, units and apartments. 

Tenants are unable to purchase a plan, but we encourage them to speak to their rental provider about the benefits Emergency Home Assist can offer.

We can respond to a call for assistance from:

  • anyone living at the property
  • family members
  • tenants and property managers.
