Using RACV Car Match

RACV Car Match gives you the used car market value range for over 30,000 cars, which can help you better understand how much your current car may be worth.

We give you an estimated market value range for your car using a combination of dealer retail, dealer trade-in and private sale vehicle transaction data in Australia provided by Glass’s Information Service.

Supporting smarter car decisions

RACV Car Match helps you make an informed choice when buying a car but it’s not a sales platform.

We offer car loans to help you make your next purchase. Visit our buying a car page to find out more.

Other things that can impact your car's value

Your car is unique and it’s important to look at other things that can impact your car’s value besides its make, model, year and fuel type.

Ownership costs

Ownership costs influence a car’s value because higher ongoing expenses can affect buyer demand and what people are willing to pay.

Service history

A complete service history can increase buyer confidence. Gaps or missing records may lower your car’s value.

Vehicle condition

Wear and tear, damage and repairs all matter. Cars in better condition usually attract higher offers.

Odometer reading

Higher kilometres can reduce value, even for newer cars. Lower kilometres often make a car more appealing to buyers.

Modifications

Aftermarket vehicle modifications don’t always add value. Some changes can limit buyer interest or affect resale price.

Car colour

Popular colours are easier to sell. Less common colours can narrow appeal and affect what buyers are willing to pay.

Understanding our estimated market value

The market value for used cars is an estimate based on a vehicle’s listed minimum and maximum market values, provided by Glass’s Information Services. We receive 3 types of pricing data.

Trade‑in value

What a dealer may offer when you buy another car. This can be lower than other values to account for resale and holding costs.

Dealer retail price

The price a dealer lists a car for sale. This is often higher than other values and includes dealer costs, margins and warranties.

Private sale price

When the vehicle is sold directly by an individual to another individual, without involving a licensed car dealership.
