Support for Members affected by bushfires

The most important thing is your safety. Make sure you follow the direction of local authorities and if you need help, call 000 or State Emergency Services (SES) on 132 500.

If you’ve been affected by bushfires, we encourage you to lodge a claim online. Our claims team will assess your claim and be in touch to discuss your options.

This is a very trying time for a lot of Australian and Victorian families and our thoughts remain with those impacted by the Victorian bushfires. Our number one priority is to help Members affected as soon as practically possible. We are here to help.

Making your claim

  • Prepare your claim

    Gather details of the damage to your home or vehicle, including photos and any reports. Plus, check your policy documents to see what you’re covered for.

  • Make your claim

    You can do this online or by calling us on 13 19 03. It should take less than 20 minutes.

  • After you've submitted your claim

    Your claim will be assessed by the team. They'll be in touch as soon as possible to talk through what happens next.

You can make a claim online 24/7, 365 days a year, using our easy guided claims process. 

Over the phone

You can also call us to make a claim or ask any questions you may have. Keep in mind that wait times are longer than usual.

Checking your cover

Find out exactly what you’re covered for by checking your Certificate of Insurance and Product Disclosure Statement in your online account.

These will show your:

  • policy number and expiry dates 
  • policy summary 
  • excesses 
  • optional cover (if applicable). 

 

After you've submitted your claim

RACV Insurance will start by assessing the information you’ve provided, as soon as possible.

If you're in need of immediate support, like temporary accommodation, our claims team will be in touch to discuss your options. They may also contact your for more details, if required.

From there, they’ll let you know what happens next, depending on your circumstances.

Temporary repairs and accomodation

If your home isn’t in a safe and livable condition following a listed event, we may arrange temporary repairs or accommodation for you, your household and pets, for up to 12 months.

Keep in mind that temporary accommodation cover will only apply if you lived in your home permanently prior to the insured event.
