Victorian golfers are invited to take part in the 2015/16 Auto Club Golf Championship (ACGC). It is open to any golfer with a handicap, with RACV members receiving a 25% discount on entry fees.

One of the most popular amateur golfing events in the country, the ACGC Victorian qualifying rounds will begin at RACV Torquay Resort golf course on 14 September.

The winning pair of each qualifying event will be awarded entry to the championship final at RACV Royal Pines at the Gold Coast in mid-2016. With more than 25 qualifying events occurring throughout regional and metropolitan Victoria there are more than 25 chances to win a trip to the finals. Other prizes up for grabs include a $100 RACV voucher for nearest to the pin.

The ACGC is an aggregate stableford pairs competition.

In the 2014/15 finals, RACV members fared particularly well, with golfing partners Dexter Prack and Jack Miltos taking first prize in the tournament and, at the Gala Presentation Dinner, RACV member John Doherty winning a new Suzuki Celerio.

John has been playing golf for 25 years and the 2014/15 tournament was his first Auto Club Golf Championship. John and his golf partner Mal Brown won Geelong’s Queens Park Golf Club qualifying round to secure a position in the finals.

John said that he “thoroughly enjoyed Royal Pines. The course and the people were great”. He and Mal were impressed by how well the event was run. “They organised the carts and brought us our clubs, provided breakfast and dinner, … we felt like kings,” John said.
