Following from this morning’s Coalition commitment to undertaking planning for the North East Link, this afternoon the Federal Labor Party also announced that it will commit $5 million towards a feasibility study for the North East Link that will complete the Metropolitan Ring Road.

With the Coalition and Labor now supporting the North East Link, voters are assured that the vital first steps will commence to ensure the project is delivered. RACV looks forward to the State Government matching the commitment, irrespective of which party forms the next Federal Government.

With the Labor Party and the Coalition supporting the project, and the Australian Greens Party opposing ‘mega-road’ projects, voters in critical seats like McEwen, Jagajaga, Menzies, Bruce and Chisholm have some certainty that planning investigations will commence to clearly define the route for the North East Link if either the Coalition or Labor forms the next Federal Government.
