RACV survey asks Victorians how safe they feel at home

RACV is inviting Victorians to share how safe they feel in their homes and communities through the RACV Home Safety Pulse survey.

The survey takes less than five minutes to complete and aims to capture how Victorians feel about safety in their neighbourhoods, what influences those feelings, and what more can be done to help people feel secure where they live.

This survey follows record crime figures in Victoria with over 483,500 criminal incidents in the 12 months before 30 June 2025.

RACV General Manager Corporate Affairs Liz Carey said that one of the key goals of the survey was understanding how safe Victorians feel in their homes and communities.

“We know that many factors can affect how safe people feel — from home security technology, being aware of local crime rates, or simply the strength of community connection,” Ms Carey said.

“The RACV Home Safety Pulse survey gives every Victorian the opportunity to share their experiences and insights, so we can build a clearer picture of how safety perceptions vary across neighbourhoods, and how they’ve changed over the past two years.”

RACV will share the results with government to help inform both local government crime prevention programs and broader state-wide strategies aimed at keeping people safe and reducing home-related crime.

RACV has a long history of advocating to improve the lives of Victorians, and the Home Safety Pulse is one of several community-focused initiatives that guides RACV’s recommendations to policymakers.

“RACV is interested in tangible programs that can provide real support Victorians,” Ms Carey said.

All survey responses are anonymous and will not be used for marketing or insurance purposes.

The 2025 Home Safety Pulse follows the 2023 Home Safety survey, which heard from more than 7,000 Victorians about how safe they felt in their homes.

Victorians can complete the survey at RACV’s Have Your Say webpage, before it closes in January, 2026.
