Ballarat-born artist, Evie Cahir, returns home to showcase her latest collection, Sweet Lime, at RACV Goldfields Resort.

The free exhibition is open now to guests and visitors until Sunday 6 September and is one of two collections currently running at the Resort.

Sweet Lime features a series of artworks that use colour to capture everyday moments of life and invites audiences to reflect on their own connections with loved ones.

Marking Cahir's fourth solo exhibition, she said it was amazing to be showcasing her work once again in her hometown of Ballarat. 

“My passion for art blossomed while growing up in Ballarat, so it’s such a gratifying experience to have my exhibition displayed here for the local community and visitors,” Cahir said. 

Cahir added the initial ideation stage was one of her favourite parts of creating the exhibition, as everything had the potential to inspire her work. 

“I kept seeing this shade of green when I was out and about – on a tram, in the bush, reading a book and spotting something in the corner of my eye, getting dressed in the morning.

“This stage led me to home in on a distinct shade of green, self-described as ‘Sweet Lime’.”

Cahir, who studied a Bachelor of Illustration at Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT), is known for her vibrant works on paper which has been displayed across regional Victoria, Melbourne and Sydney. 

RACV Head of Visual Arts Mardi Nowak said a deep engagement with light and colour was at the heart of the exhibition. 

“The repeated use of lime green within the artworks creates a sense of balance and peacefulness that can be felt throughout the exhibition,” Nowak said. 

“Cahir has created a series of works that are seamlessly vibrant and expressive while focusing on the quieter moments found in domestic and public spaces.” 

Nowak said the exhibition was a great reason to visit and explore the Creswick and Ballarat area.

About the RACV’s Art Collection & Exhibitions

RACV’s Art Collection was established in 2003 and spotlights living Australian artists to help develop and promote local Victorian art. Aiming to showcase the state’s diversity and represent all Victorians, the RACV Art Collection has a strong balance of male and female artists, while First Nations art makes up 20 per cent of the overall collection.
