What does Comprehensive Motorcycle Insurance cover?

With an RACV Comprehensive Motorcycle Insurance policy, you'll be covered for a range of events. Here’s a summary of what’s included:

  • Loss or damage to your vehicle caused by an accident, flood, fire, malicious act, storm, theft or attempted theft.
  • Hire car if your motorbike is stolen for up to $60 a day, for a maximum of 21 days.
  • Cover for windscreen damage as a result of an incident.
  • Liability cover up to $20 million for unintentional collision damage to someone else’s vehicle or property.
  • Up to $2000 in total to repair or replace damaged protective gear specifically designed for you or your passenger’s safety while riding your motorcycle, like a helmet or jacket.
  • New replacement vehicle if RACV Insurance considers your vehicle to be a total loss and agrees to pay your claim. Conditions apply.
  • Choice of repairer to fix your motorbike after a listed incident.
  • Any licenced rider will be covered when they ride your motorbike, without you needing to list them on your policy. Additional excess may apply to inexperienced riders or riders under 25.

This is only a summary of the inclusions for RACV Comprehensive Insurance. For more information, such as conditions, limits and exclusions, read the Product Disclosure Statement.

  • Hire car or vehicle after a not-at-fault collision unless added as an optional extra.
  • Loss or damage that occurs outside of Australia.
  • General wear and tear and non-emergency repairs.

For more information on General Exclusions and items not included in your cover, refer to the Product Disclosure Statement.

For added peace of mind, you can enhance your cover with optional extras. If you do this, you’ll need to pay a little more on your premium.

Hire car regardless of who is at fault
By adding this extra, you’ll be covered for a hire car after a collision, no matter who is at fault. Plus, RACV Insurance will arrange for a specific car to meet your needs rather than any car that is available.

Windscreen cover with no excess
If you add this option, you won’t need to pay any excess when only your vehicle’s windscreen , sunroof or window glass is damaged as a result of an incident.

For associated conditions, see the Product Disclosure Statement.

Will my helmet and riding gear be covered if I have an accident?

Yes. With Comprehensive Insurance, you’re covered for up to $2000 in total to repair or replace protective clothing if it is damaged as a result of a listed event. The most you can claim for an individual item is $1000.

Protective gear is clothing specifically designed to keep you safe in the event of a road accident. This includes:

  • helmet
  • jacket
  • trousers
  • boots
  • gloves
