RACV delivers meals to vulnerable Victorians

RACV has delivered more than 18,000 meals to vulnerable Victorians.

RACV’s emergency goods assist service has delivered more than 18,000 meals to vulnerable communities across Victoria affected by COVID-19, as community services struggle to cope with increased demand and fewer volunteers.

The nutritious meals are prepared and packaged at the RACV City Club kitchen led by executive chef Jason Camillo and delivered in decommissioned and converted RACV Emergency Roadside Assist vans driven by RACV employees.

Since it launched in March, emergency goods assist has supported 27 community organisations that work with homeless, disabled, disadvantaged, elderly, and culturally and linguistically diverse Victorians, including Dandenong Ranges Emergency Relief Service, Melbourne City Mission, Sacred Heart Mission, Christ Church Community Centre, Concern Australia, Australian Multicultural Community Services and Pantry 5000.

It is now expanding the service to regional areas and will be delivering meals to organisations in the Gippsland, Geelong and Mornington Peninsula regions.

A spokesperson for Concern Australia, which works with vulnerable young people, welcomed the support from RACV’s emergency goods assist. “We are so touched by the generosity of the RACV and the incredible support they are providing our young people.”
