Chargefox, Australia’s largest public electric vehicle (EV) charging network, has expanded with the opening of its seventh ultra-rapid charging station in Moe, Victoria. The location means locals and tourists alike have access to this world-class technology, delivering up to 400km of range in only 15 minutes and backed up by 100% renewable energy.
Marty Andrews, Chargefox CEO, said, “This is the first of seven new locations we will be opening over the summer months. The new charging station in Moe is a significant milestone, enabling EV drivers to travel from Melbourne to Victoria’s beautiful Latrobe Valley region and through to Sale, Maffra and Lakes Entrance without any long charging stops.”

The Chargefox Moe site was built with significant support from local Latrobe Valley businesses including Gippsland Solar and Fowlers Asphalting. With an additional 15 ultra-rapid charging stations in development, the Chargefox ultra-rapid network will soon connect Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide, as well as having additional stations in Western Australia and Tasmania. This will make electric vehicle charging faster and easier for all Australians and support efforts to bring Australia’s vehicle emissions in line those of the USA and Europe.

The Chargefox site in Moe features two 350kW capable Tritium chargers, plus two additional 50kW capable charger. At an average of 20kWh/100km the 350kW chargers can deliver up to 450km of range in 15 minutes, whilst the 50kW can deliver 60km in 15 minutes.
Chargefox is the biggest and fastest growing open charging network in Australia for modern EVs. It has been operating charging stations across Australia and New Zealand for 2 years and has managed more than 55,000 charging sessions for drivers via it’s iPhone and Android mobile apps, across more than 1,100 plugs. The ultra-rapid charging network is an investment by the Australian Motoring Services (RACV, NRMA, RACQ, RAC, RAA and RACT), Wilson Transformers and the founder of Carsales, Greg Roebuck. It is supported with grants from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and the Victorian Government.
Chargefox’s multiple partnerships with car manufacturers mean that Australians can confidently purchase an EV backed by the Chargefox network.
The freely-available Chargefox app also helps users easily find, use and pay for charging across hundreds of stations in Australia and New Zealand.
