Parking at railway stations is a bug-bear for many commuters. In fact, RACV’s recent On Track survey indicated that accessing stations is one of the biggest impediments commuters face in their daily travels.
It is therefore good news that Belgrave, Sandown Park, Epping and Craigieburn are to be upgraded to include more parking, and better safety features including CCTV and lighting.
“RACV’s On Track survey indicated that parking was the biggest issue for commuters at Belgrave, Craigieburn and Epping Stations, and it is great to see this issue being addressed by the State Government. However, commuters also highlighted the need for improved bus connections at these stations, which underscores the need for a multi-modal approach to train station access,” said Dave Jones, manager of Mobility Advocacy.
Sandown Park commuters also cited a lack of shelter and available staff, highlighting safety issues.
