Innovative property start-up, Landchecker, has today announced a recent round of investment of $1.85 million, with strategic partner RACV the largest contributor. The investment will place RACV as the company’s second largest shareholder.
Unlike RealEstate.com.au and Domain, Landchecker provides users with unique information about a property’s planning constraints, including development zones, heritage overlays, flood affected areas and permit requirements.
Developed by two architects and a property developer, Landchecker was born from the need for a more streamlined and time-efficient process for obtaining necessary information for property transactions.
This investment is the latest move by RACV to build its product and services offering in the home on behalf of its 2.1 million members. RACV is committed to improving the lives of all Victorians in the areas of home, mobility and leisure.
In the coming months, RACV and Landchecker will together launch a new initiative, Claim My Property, to give homeowners essential information. It will allow them to register their ownership, receive property reports and monitor buyer interest. Those who sign up will also be alerted to any market updates and legislative changes that have the potential to impact the value of their property.
Will Leaf, CEO of Landchecker said the investment in the platform will enable them to continue to develop capabilities and eventually expand Australia-wide.
“Landchecker is an easy to use, convenient and accessible platform that solves a genuine need in the property market. When people want to buy, develop, renovate or extend they currently face a lengthy and confusing ordeal to ensure they obtain the information they’ll require,” said Mr Leaf.
“Support from a business such as RACV, who is one of Victoria’s most trusted organisations, will be instrumental in Landchecker’s growth and enable us to develop a transaction service that empowers all Australians on their property journey.”
RACV Managing Director and CEO, Neil Taylor said the organisation’s partnership with Landchecker was just one of the ways RACV continues to assist its members in the home.
“We’re pleased to be partnering with Landchecker to launch the Claim My Property tool, as it will provide meaningful benefits to all current and prospective Victorian homeowners”, said Taylor.
“We’re always looking for new ways to improve the lives of our members, and partnering with Landchecker will make the journey to home ownership easier.”
