Organising your extended benefits

We'll arrange your benefits at the time of your incident or breakdown. However, in certain situations, we may approve you to cover upfront costs, such as transport or accommodation, and reimburse you later.

The amount you can claim is determined by your subscription type, and known as your extended benefits.

What do you need to provide?

  • Member number (if known)
  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Tax invoices of upfront costs
  • Vehicle registration number

How to claim your reimbursement

  • Submit request

    Email all tax invoices to ERA_reimbursements@racv.com.au within 90 days of your incident. Don't include any bank details in the email.

  • We'll contact you

    Once your request has been received, we'll provide a case number and confirm the result of your request.

  • Reimbursement processed

    Once approved, we'll deposit the funds in the bank details provided within 5 to 10 business days.

  • Follow up (if needed)

    If we couldn't process your reimbursement, we'll send an email or letter with steps to follow in your online account.

Frequently asked questions

We'll need a valid tax invoice for each expense you incurred.

To be valid, a tax invoice must state:

  • 'Tax invoice' or similar on document
  • The business name and ABN of supplier
  • The date the invoice was issued
  • The quantity and description of the goods or services provided
  • The total cost, including GST breakdown or a statement that the total cost includes GST.
  • The buyer's identity (for invoices of $1,000 or more).

After we receive your reimbursement request, we'll contact you within 5 business days with the result of your claim. If approved, we'll send further communication in the next 5 to 10 business days with instructions on how to access your refund.

Once your request is approved, we'll issue your reimbursement to the bank details provided.

If we couldn't process your reimbursement with these details, we'll follow up with an email or letter outlining the next steps to securely process your reimbursement through your online account.

We'll cover a daily rate up to $88 per day if you break down. This amount includes:

  • airport tax or premium location surcharge
  • credit card surcharge or fee
  • vehicle registration fee
  • administration fee
  • additional driver fee
  • drivers under age fee.

We do not cover excess kilometres, tolls, any extras including GPS or baby seats, insurance and excess reduction costs, damage or cleaning fees, security deposits or fuel.

RACV has sole discretion whether to grant extended benefits in relation to any incident for which a member makes a claim for such benefits.

RACV will consider any claim for Extended Benefits falling within these terms and conditions, but if RACV elects to grant only partial benefits, then the member's entitlements in relation to the incident are limited by that election.
