Frequently asked questions

What is considered an electrical emergency?

Sometimes it's hard to work out whether you have a general maintenance problem or an electrical emergency. We consider a situation to be an emergency if your home or property is likely to be damaged unless immediate steps are taken.

Common signs of electrical emergencies include:

  • Loss of power to all or part of your home (excludes area-wide power outages and blackouts)
  • Broken air-conditioning system
  • Water leaking from a light fitting.

I’m a renter. Can I purchase RACV Emergency Home Assist?

RACV Emergency Home Assist (EHA) is not available to tenants, only residential homeowners or their managing agents (including houses, duplexes, flats, units and apartments).

If you think EHA would be handy to have, we suggest speaking to your landlord or managing agent about the benefits of a subscription.
