As my term as President and Chairman of the RACV Board is coming to an end after three years, this will be my last President’s column. I am pleased to say that good progress has been made at RACV over the past three years as we have developed and advanced a new corporate plan for the organisation with the aim of delivering more value to our members over coming years.

The new plan not only acknowledges our origins and strong history as a motoring club, but also recognises opportunities for RACV to continue to evolve to meet the future needs of our 2.1 million members as we expand into new areas of mobility, as well as providing greater support for members in their homes.

As a trusted, highly respected and valued organisation, RACV has an important role to play in the home. Recent initiatives include RACV Solar and our Energy Compare tool, with other opportunities being actively investigated by our Home Innovation team.

We also continue to develop and improve our Club and Resort facilities where we expect to complete a major redevelopment of our Cape Schanck resort during 2018. Member usage of these excellent facilities continues to climb year on year.

An essential area of focus and investment over recent times has been directed to strengthening our organisational capability as we upgrade our technology and support innovation in a constantly changing world. We recently launched our new website as we look to more effective ways to communicate with our members and enhance our member offering.

As well as member services, RACV continues to advocate on behalf of our members on issues that matter most to them.  We believe that major gains have been made as a result of our transport infrastructure campaigning, with substantial progress in the most recent Victorian budget.

We have also advanced our mobility advocacy for all transport users and delivered road safety education into countless schools across Victoria as part of our broader community role, where every day RACV touches the lives of so many Victorians, including through the RACV Community Foundation and various support and sponsorship programs.

As we approach the holiday season and the new year, I would like to remind everyone about the need to be careful, not only on the roads but also in our homes, in the country or at the beach – especially for our children who are less aware of the risks and dangers around them. In this summer edition of RoyalAuto, we take a look at safety around water to encourage all members to be alert while at home or away.

In closing, I would like to thank all members for the opportunity to serve you as President. On behalf of the RACV Board and staff, I wish all members and your families a safe and enjoyable holiday and festive season.

Kevin W White, President & Chairman of the Board
