More awards for RoyalAuto 

RACV’s member magazine, RoyalAuto, has won two major national communications awards, taking its tally to four awards for excellence this year.

RoyalAuto, which appears digitally and in print, came away from the Australian Magazine Awards 2017 with two trophies, for Best Use of Multimedia and for Best Feature Article. Both awards were for Impact, a multi-media, multi-platform investigation of the effects of road trauma on survivors and their families in Victoria. For more than a year, RACV worked with emergency services, hospital staff and families to ensure the story was told.

Impact was published in print, online, on television and in social channels.

RoyalAuto’s publisher and managing editor Alison Dean said the award was recognition of how strong journalism can unite agencies and campaign to save lives. “We hope the series will continue to impact people’s behaviour on the road in a positive way.”

In the Australian Magazine Awards, RoyalAuto won against national titles including Cosmopolitan, The Monthly and Home Beautiful.

Earlier this year Impact took out the Single Article of the Year category in the national Publish Awards, where RoyalAuto was nominated in seven categories. Impact also won a Melbourne Press Club Quill Award for excellence in journalism.

Former editor Seamus Bradley said: “It was an exciting privilege to be competing with some of the biggest players in digital and print media in Australia and a testament to the quality of work that can be produced by a small dedicated team of professionals.”
