The BYD Atto 3 medium SUV has been updated for 2024, with added features accompanied by a price reduction of over $3500 on both the standard and extended range variants.

Available to order from dealers and the BYD website now, the fundamentals of the BYD Atto 3 are carried over from the outgoing Atto 3 model, but new features and sharper pricing means it delivers more value for money.

What are the new features and technology for the 2024 BYD Atto 3 in Australia?

New to the updated MY24 BYD Atto 3 is a larger 15.6-inch rotating infotainment display (up from 12.5-inch), wireless Apple CarPlay, an updated infotainment system with in-car karaoke, and a ‘camping mode’ which allows extended use of the air conditioning system while parked.

How much does the updated 2024 BYD Atto 3 cost in Australia?

Despite the extra features, BYD has reduced the price of new 2024 models by $3512, with the BYD Atto Standard Range now priced at $47,189.90 drive away and the BYD Atto 3 Extended Range now at $50,315.90 drive away. The BYD Atto 3 remains one of the most affordable electric mid-size SUVs in Australia.

BYD Atto 3 performance and design changes for 2024

The 2024 BYD Atto 3 retains both standard and extended range variants, and each is front wheel drive. The standard model has a 49.92kWh battery with a claimed range of 345km (ADR Combined) 3 while the extended range model has a larger, 60.48kWh battery for a potential 420km.

While major engineering changes have not been carried out, the BYD Atto 3’s tyres have been replaced with a wider 235/50R18 Continental tyre which should deliver improved grip.

Exterior design changes include a new Cosmic Black exterior with gloss black highlights, but red paint is no longer available. The BYD Atto 3 is available with white as standard, while Cosmic Black, Surf Blue and Boulder Grey are each costed extra at $700. Interior options remain the same, with a blue and grey or blue and black finish available.

The Build Your Dreams words will no longer appear at the rear of the Atto 3, having been replaced with a standard BYD badge.

When will the updated 2024 BYD Atto 3 go on sale in Australia?

The 2024 BYD Atto 3 is on sale now in Australia and can be ordered online with a $1000 refundable order fee.

BYD Atto 3 sales in Australia

The BYD Atto 3 electric SUV was the brand’s first vehicle to arrive in Australia. Around three quarters of BYD's 20,000 sales sold since the brand's arrival have been the Atto 3 which sells in the same medium SUV segment as the popular Tesla Model Y electric SUV and the Toyota RAV4 hybrid.

In addition to the Atto 3 medium SUV, BYD also sells the Dolphin small car and Seal medium car, as well as its first petrol-hybrid, the BYD Sealion 6 mid-size SUV, in Australia.

Last year BYD Automotive overtook Tesla as the world's biggest manufacturer of new energy vehicles, despite the Tesla Model Y becoming the world's best-selling car.
