The Tesla Model Y has a sleek new look, more power and added tech as part of a major update to freshen up the best-selling electric vehicle in Australia. From pricing to specs, here’s what you need to know about the new 2025 Tesla Model Y medium SUV.
2026 Hyundai Elexio: price, specs and release date in Australia
Hyundai is readying its latest entrant into the electric vehicle space, with confirmation the Hyundai Elexio family electric SUV will arrive in Australia early next year.
Hyundai already has one of the largest EV line-ups in Australia, from the excellent Inster to the luxury seven-seat Ioniq 9, but sales have struggled to keep pace with more affordable options from China and even its sister-company Kia.
Given consumer interest for more affordable electric cars, the Hyundai Elexio will be sourced from China, where it will be manufactured alongside the Kia EV5, a battery electric medium SUV which appears to have hit a sweet spot with family and small fleet owner-operators.
Hyundai Australia has announced the Elexio will arrive in early 2026, and it says it will offer family-friendly practicality, advanced safety, and a long driving range. Crucially, the Elexio will enter a fiercely competitive segment, going head-to-head with established and emerging family SUV rivals such as the Kia EV5, Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7.

How much will the Hyundai Elexio cost in Australia?
Australian pricing for the Elexio is still under wraps, however Hyundai’s positioning of the Elexio as a competitively priced family SUV suggests it will target the heart of the mainstream EV segment.
For context, Hyundai’s long-standing small electric SUV, the Kona Electric, starts from $54,000 plus on-road costs, while the city-sized Hyundai Inster—now the brand’s most affordable EV—starts at $39,000 plus on-roads for the Standard Range model.
The Elexio is expected to be priced to compete with the Kia EV5 which costs from $56,770 plus on-road costs and the BYD Sealion 7 which has rapidly established itself as one of the best selling EVs in the market and starts from $54,990 plus costs.
No details have been confirmed for the Elexio vehicle warranty but it is expected to extend to seven-year when servicing at a Hyundai dealership. Battery warranty is likely to match the rest of the Hyundai electric vehicle range at eight-year/160,000km.
The Elexio’s introduction follows its debut in China, as part of Hyundai’s 'In China, For China, To Global' strategy
What is the range of the Hyundai Elexio?
The Elexio is equipped with an 88.1kWh battery, which promises driving range of over 500km on the WLTP standard. This places it line-ball with the similarly powered Kia EV5 and close to the range claims of both BYD Sealion 7 variants (542km/567km) and ahead of the standard range Tesla Model Y (466km)
Hyundai says DC fast charging will allow the Elexio to recharge from 30 to 80 percent in just 27 minutes.
Hyundai Elexio design and specs
Built on Hyundai’s dedicated E-GMP platform, the Elexio features a bold design with clean lines and distinctive crystal-square headlights. Hyundai says its durable body structure is engineered for both urban commutes and long-distance travel and balances style with functionality.
Hyundai Elexio interior and technology
Inside, the Elexio boasts a 27-inch ultra-thin 4K widescreen display powered by a Qualcomm 8295 chip, delivering seamless navigation and infotainment. An innovative Cyber Eye heads-up display (HUD) promises to offer good readability, while Dolby Atmos immersive audio and an eight-speaker BOSE system come standard.
Families will likely appreciate the 506-litre boot (expandable to 1,540 litres) and 46 flexible storage areas. Integrated health monitoring and fatigue detection systems further enhance comfort and safety
How safe is the Hyundai Elexio?
The Elexio is equipped with a nine-airbag system (including extended side curtain airbags), automatic pop-out mechanical door handles for emergencies, and advanced driver assistance features. The Elexio’s chassis, damping, and braking systems are tuned for both city and highway driving, with features like Family Brake Mode and active side-bolsters to reduce driver fatigue.
