Whether it’s domestic bliss or a romantic rendezvous abroad, there’s a honeymoon destination to suit the needs of every couple.

Weddings are back, and with that, the best part for the couple in question – the honeymoon. Once the "I do's" are done, it's time to relax, unwind and enjoy with your beloved as you begin your new lives together.

But now for the hard part – where should you go? What kind of holiday do you want?

Perhaps you see yourself relaxing on the beaches of Noosa, snorkeling in Fiji, or cruising through the Italian riviera.

Here’s our pick of the best honeymoon destinations for Australian couples.

Best places to go on honeymoon in Australia

Perhaps you’re looking to keep it local, you have limited time, or you’re excited to experience the land Down Under and all it has to offer. From sandy beaches to chic urban stays, Australian has it all. Some popular romantic holiday spots include:

Noosa, Queensland

Sandy white beaches, sunshine galore, rollicking waves, and summery romantic evenings. Welcome to Noosa. A popular honeymoon favourite, the Sunshine Coast resort area is the perfect spot to relax and unwind with your new life partner.

Those looking for a romantic stay can book in at the 5-star RACV Noosa Resort, close to pristine beaches, relaxed poolside dining, and luxury villas and facilities.

The resort also provides the perfect base for honeymooners. Whether it’s a day trip to Fraser Island, indulging at One Spa, having a romantic stroll down Hastings Street or having a candlelit dinner at one of these MasterChef-approved dining institutions around Noosa, your holiday will provide the perfect romantic getaway a short flight away.

Gold Coast, Queensland

Are you the kind of couple who likes the option to relax or engage in a range of romantic activities when on holiday? Then perhaps the Gold Coast is the place for your magical couples' getaway.

Whether it's taking in the delight of a marine experience while going whale watching, heading on a day trip to a nearby winery, island or mountain, or taking advantage of the many romantic activities for couples to do on the Gold Coast, you won’t be stuck for options when honeymooning in the sunshine state.

Start with a luxurious rejuvenation at the RACV Royal Pines Resort, where you can enjoy dreamy views, and tranquillity by the pool and spa. Once rested, engage in experiences from golf to tennis before indulging in one of the many authentic dining experiences, such as the Italian-inspired Trattoria Amici or sunset drinks with a view at Videre Bar.

Cape Schanck, Victoria

Perhaps you’re looking for something a little closer to home where you can unwind, relax, and enjoy breathtaking views with a five-star indulgence.

At the RACV Cape Schanck Resort in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula region, there is a myriad of intimate and charming experiences honeymooning couples can indulge in from morning until night. Guests can elect to dine at one of the many fabulous facilities on site, such as a drink in The Lounge watching Bass Strait and city skyline views, or head on a culinary journey at Cape for an elegant dining experience in an intimate setting.

If activities are what you are after, the Peninsula has plenty to keep your honeymoon rolling. Have a private sanctuary and bathe at the Peninsula Hot Springs, get the camera ready for a dolphin and seal swim reef snorkel tour in nearby Sorrento, and head for a leisurely romantic stroll on one of the coastal region’s stunning walks to the Cape Schanck Lighthouse.

For food and drink delicacies, head to one of the many cellar doors or art and wine trail in the area for an exquisite food and wine pairing, or finish with a cosy night in at the Dromana Drive-In.

Hobart, Tasmania

Not everyone loves the beach. If you’re looking for a trip a little more cosmopolitan and closer to home, our friends across the Bass Strait may just have the answer.

Once landing by plane or sea, honeymooners can head straight to the RACV Hobart Hotel, where they can settle into a luxury penthouse with panoramic views of the city a stone’s throw from markets, restaurants, bars, and all central Hobart has to offer.

With a riveting arts scene thanks to mainstay Mona and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, bustling Salamanca markets, and views as far as the eye can see across Wineglass Bay, Bruny Island and perhaps even a peek at the Aurora Australis, I’s easy to see how Hobart is fast-becoming a romantic destination for couples looking for a honeymoon that delivers city experiences alongside breathtaking natural experiences, boutique food and drink, and seascapes in a cosy and romantic setting.
