Eligibility
To be eligible for cover, the sport or activity must:
- be conducted through a commercial operator and available to the general public
- not be considered extreme risk
- not require any special skills, any training programs prior to the sport or activity or a high level of fitness to undertake.
The following must be adhered to for your policy to cover you in an insured event. It’s your responsibility to check if you need an International Driving Permit to legally drive these vehicles on your holiday.
Motorcycles
For any 2- or 3-wheeled motor vehicle with an engine capacity of 50cc or more:
- the driver must hold a current Australian motorcycle licence or a valid motorcycle licence for the country they’ll be driving in (even if that country doesn’t require drivers to have a licence)
- the driver and any passengers must wear helmets
- cover applies to injuries sustained while on the motorcycle. Cover does not apply to any damage to the motorcycle.
Mopeds and scooters
For any 2- or 3-wheeled motor vehicle with an engine capacity of up to 50cc:
- the driver must hold a current Australian driver licence or a valid driver licence for the country they’ll be driving in (even if that country doesn’t require drivers to have a licence). Australian learner permit holders do not qualify for cover
- the driver and any passengers must wear helmets
- cover applies to injuries sustained while on the moped or scooter. Cover does not apply to any damage to the vehicle.
Quad bikes
For any motor vehicle with 4 or more wheels, a seat straddled by the rider and handlebars for steering:
- the driver and any passengers must wear helmets.
The following must be adhered to for your policy to cover you in an insured event.
- You must act responsibly to protect yourself and you must follow relevant safety guidelines where applicable. This includes using appropriate and recommended safety equipment.
- If going off-piste, you must be with a professional guide at all times.
- The sport or activity must not be part of a profession or competition, including training or practising.
Not included
- Aerobatic skiing or snowboarding
- Backcountry skiing or snowboarding
- Bobsleighing or snow rafting
- Parapenting, heli-skiing or heli-snowboarding
- Skiing or snowboarding with power assisted equipment
- Skijoring
