Am I covered? Travel insurance questions to ask before you leave

Before you ride that ostrich, ensure you're covered by your travel insurance policy

It's true that travel offers some amazing and exciting activities which you can't always experience at home, but it's important that you check whether or not you'll be covered by your travel insurance policy if you want to participate in any of them.

There's also the chance the country you're visiting is in the midst of a natural disaster, which could affect how you get home, how you get to your next destination or even where you stay.

Simple awareness of what your travel insurance policy covers, and doesn't cover, could save you thousands of dollars in medical and transport costs.

Check smarttraveller.gov.au for the latest updates on the safety at your destinations. Think carefully before visiting countries with "Do Not Travel" status, as your RACV Travel Insurance won't cover you for these destinations.

Travel insurance with natural disaster cover

RACV Travel Insurance covers you for emergency expenses caused by natural disasters and severe weather conditions provided your policy was purchased before the event occurred.
