RACV is urging Victorians to keep their keys close and stay alert this summer, after responding to 1,085 lockout emergencies in 2025.
Last minute gifting for less: RACV's new eGift card offer shows how Victorians could save hundreds this Christmas
With Aussies set to spend $757 each on gifts this year – seven per cent more than last year – RACV is helping members keep more money in their pockets with a simple money-saving strategy that could save hundreds.
RACV's new last-minute gifting for less eGift card offer is helping members unlock savings of up to ten per cent on eGift cards from over 150 big brands including Myer, Rebel, Priceline, Freedom, Uber Eats, restaurants and even RACV Resorts – potentially delivering significant savings across Christmas gifting and entertainment costs.
RACV Executive General Manager Leisure Craig Peachey said Victorians are facing a more expensive Christmas than ever, with the latest Australian Retailers Association and Roy Morgan data showing gift spending will reach $12 billion nationally this year.
"With the average Victorian spending $757 on gifts – up seven per cent from last year – every dollar counts," said Mr Peachey.
"RACV members can save up to ten per cent simply by purchasing eGift cards before they shop. When you factor in gifts, groceries and Christmas entertaining, that ten per cent can add up to hundreds of dollars in savings.
"This is the time of year when Victorians are spending heavily and actively looking for ways to help their hip pocket and RACV is helping members give gifts and organise their Christmas entertaining for less," Mr Peachey said.

Save up to ten per cent on eGift cards for over 150 big brands. Use them for your own Christmas shopping to instantly reduce costs.
2. Shop early and on special Start stocking up on non-perishable items now using eGift cards. Putting an extra item aside each shop spreads costs across weeks rather than hitting hard in December.
3. Stack your savings Compare savings online and before buying anything, quickly search for the same item across multiple retailers. By pre purchasing an eGift card, you could then save up to ten per cent more.
4. Get creative with gifts Homemade gifts – from preserves to propagated plants – save money and often mean more than store-bought items. RACV Members also have access to discounts on movie tickets, theatre shows and attractions as gift options.
5. Organise a Secret Santa Setting gift price limits or running a Secret Santa reduces costs for families and friendship groups while keeping the spirit of giving alive. Give an eGift card and keep the change.
Mr Peachey said RACV was focusing on the power of small savings during the Christmas rush, making last minute gifting easier and costing you less.
“If you’ve got a hard to buy for Dad in your life (like me!), you can jump onto the RACV App and quickly buy something like a Barbeques Galore or Drummond Golf eGift card for up to ten per cent less and keep the change for yourself.
"Ten percent might not sound like much, but when you're spending hundreds of dollars on gifts, groceries and entertaining, it quickly adds up to meaningful savings.
"This Christmas, we're encouraging members to give more for less than they spend – giving you more joy, more memories, and more meaningful moments – while keeping their finances under control," Mr Peachey said.
