Tips for travelling while pregnant

Travelling while pregnant takes a little extra planning. Here are a few things worth considering before you go.

Get medical advice

Consult with your doctor or midwife before confirming any travel plans. They can advise on destinations, vaccinations and whether your stage of pregnancy makes certain types of travel – such as long-haul flights or remote locations – worth  reconsidering.

Check airline and cruise policies

Most airlines and cruise lines have their own pregnancy policies, including cut-off points for travel. These can vary significantly, so it's  worth checking directly with your transport provider before you book to avoid disappointment.

Carry a doctor’s letter

A letter confirming your due date, pregnancy details and fitness to travel is worth having on hand, especially if you're travelling internationally. Some airlines require it and it can be invaluable if you need medical attention while you're away.
