Your voice matters. RACV is inviting all Victorian residents to share their experiences and help shape safer communities.

RACV is calling on all Victorian residents to share how safe they feel at home as part of its Home Safety Pulse Survey

The survey is quick, anonymous, and gives you the chance to tell us how safe you feel at home and in your neighbourhood. Your feedback will guide RACV’s advocacy and support for practical safety improvements across the state.

The Home Safety Pulse Survey also asks Victorians about what influences how safe they feel at home, as well as what more could be done to help residents feel more secure.

The survey comes as Victoria experiences record crime figures, with Crime Statistics Victoria reporting more than 483,500 criminal incidents in the 12 months to 30 June 2025.

What is the key goal of the survey?

RACV General Manager Corporate Affairs Liz Carey says that one of the key goals of the survey is understanding how safe Victorians feel in their homes and communities.

“We know that many factors can affect how safe people feel — from home security technology, being aware of local crime rates, or simply the strength of community connection,” Carey says.

“The RACV Home Safety Pulse survey gives every Victorian the opportunity to share their experiences and insights, so we can build a clearer picture of how safety perceptions vary across neighbourhoods, and how they’ve changed over the past  two years.”

What types of questions will I be asked?

The Home Safety Pulse Survey has a focus on safety and security in the home. Victorians will be asked to share their opinions on topics such as how safe they feel in their home, how safe they feel in their community, whether their feelings of safety have changed over the past 12 months, and what measures would help improve their feelings of safety and security.

In light of a 42.1 per cent increase in motor vehicle theft in the year to June 30, 2025, the Home Safety Pulse Survey also touches on vehicle security and the measures Victorian residents are taking to help prevent vehicle theft.

What happens with the survey results?

The results of the Home Safety Pulse Survey will be shared with the government to help inform crime prevention strategies at both local and state government levels.

“RACV is interested in tangible programs that can provide real support for Victorians,” Carey says.

The latest Home Safety Pulse Survey follows the inaugural 2023 Home Safety survey, which attracted more than 7,000 responses from across Victoria.

The Home Safety Pulse Survey is open to all Victorians. Survey responses are anonymous and are not used for marketing or insurance purposes.
