We’ll send a yellow patrol van to you. If in metro Melbourne you’ll get an SMS to track its arrival. Please secure any dogs or animals before we arrive.

Patrol van arrives usually within one hour
Our roadside assistance expert will ask you questions and run a diagnostic test to find out what’s wrong with your vehicle.

Repair or tow
8 out of 10 issues are fixed on the spot. If we can’t, we’ll arrange to tow your vehicle to a repairer.

Roadside assistance provides breakdown support for mechanical issues and problems like flat batteries, punctured tyres and lockouts.
Car insurance is a separate product to roadside assistance. All types of car insurance provide cover for damage you may unintentionally cause to people’s property or vehicles during a listed incident.
Depending on your level of cover, car insurance may also provide cover for damage caused to your vehicle during a listed event, such as collision, theft or attempted theft, vandalism, or fire.

Most vehicles — including cars, electric vehicles and motorcycles — are eligible for Emergency Roadside Assistance. Your vehicle does not need to be insured to be eligible.
Vehicles that are ineligible include:
- vehicles participating in any trial, race or other activities of a like nature
- commercial vehicles (including taxis) that are only used for business purposes
- trade plated vehicles
- vehicles that aren’t registered
- vehicles beyond our size and weight restrictions.

Other things to consider
- Assistance for motorcycles is limited to petrol and towing.
- We may refuse to provide service if the attending expert considers your vehicle unroadworthy.

You can add vehicles in the RACV app, your online account, by calling 13 72 28 or visiting us in-store if you have:
- Total Care (1-2 vehicles), and only added one vehicle
- Total Care (3-5 vehicles), and only added 3 or 4 vehicles.
For all other plans, you’ll need to upgrade by calling 13 72 28 or visiting us in-store.

To add drivers to your plan:
- Open the RACV App or log into your online account.
- View your product details
- Go to ‘Add or remove drivers’
- After you add a driver, we’ll email you a link to share with them
- Your driver then uses this link to join your plan.

No, you don’t need to be listed. You just need to be able to provide the plan owner’s details when you call.
When you are listed, it makes calling for help quicker and easier – plus, you’ll also get a complimentary RACV Membership at no extra cost, giving you access to loads of member benefits.

No, only the plan owner can make changes to the plan. Additional drivers can remove themselves from the plan if they want but they can’t make any other changes.

No, you’ll only get assistance for vehicles nominated on the Total Care plan. With Total Care, you can list up to 2 cars (or up to 5 cars at an extra cost).

All RACV-accredited Auto Care Centres (AACCs) commit to:
- delivering services efficiently and responsibly under the supervision of competent and qualified staff
- maintaining the highest standards of quality and professionalism
- providing a written estimate of repair costs for labour and materials on request
- seeking express authorisation if the cost of the repair work is likely to exceed the estimate by 10%
- performing duties with honesty and integrity
- continually striving to improve the quality of service
- guarantee the effectiveness of repairs under normal operating conditions for 12 months or 20,000km (whichever occurs first).
All claims under this guarantee must be notified to your RACV-accredited Auto Care Centre within the expiry of the guarantee period. For more information, please contact your RACV-accredited Auto Care Centre.
All RACV AACC repairers provide a replacement warranty in respect of parts on the basis that all new, remanufactured and reconditioned parts installed will be covered by a minimum of 12 months or 20,000km, whichever occurs first, free-of-charge replacement warranty in respect of manufacturing faults (and in each case, abuse, physical damage or neglect will void the warranty).
