Note that our monthly payment option includes administrative fees.*

What’s the difference between Emergency Roadside Assistance and Car Insurance?

Emergency Roadside Assistance refers to breakdown support for mechanical issues and problems like flat batteries, punctured tyres and lockouts.

Car insurance# is separate to Roadside Assistance and provides cover for damage you may unintentionally cause to people’s properties or vehicles as a result of an accident on the road, as well as other listed events such as theft, vandalism or fire.

Does roadside assistance include towing?

Yes, all levels of RACV Emergency Roadside Assistance include towing up to a specified kilometre range or to the nearest attending RACV Service Centre. Here’s a summary:

  • Roadside Care: 20km
  • Extra Care: 60km
  • Total Care: 100km

Towing beyond the kilometre limit or beyond the RACV Service Centre may result in an additional out-of-pocket cost.

How long does roadside assistance take?

Usually, we’ll have someone out to help you within an hour of your call. However, sometimes the time it takes for help to arrive may vary depending on how great the demand for assistance is at any one time.
