When getting a quote include all countries you are travelling to. On the next page select ‘Yes’ to the cruise option under the ‘Choose your options’ section.
If you're going on a one-night ocean cruise in Australia and don't need medical cover, explore our Domestic travel insurance options.
For multi-night Australian cruises that require medical cover, select ‘Australian Cruise’ as your destination when getting a quote. You can choose from 3 international policies with medical cover: Comprehensive, Essentials or Basics. You may need to pay an additional premium for cruise cover. Cruise cover is also available on Annual Multi Trip policies.
This option provides access to medical cover for onboard medical costs and evacuations, as some medical providers may not be registered with Medicare.

Cruise cover is also available on Annual Multi Trip policies.
River cruising is already covered with all policies. Select the cruise option when you buy your policy to be covered for multi-night ocean cruises.
Australian cruises
If you're staying in Australian waters or ports, you may still need a policy with medical cover while on board, as some cruise ships are not registered with Medicare.
River cruising is included with all policies.Check with your cruise provider. If they recommend cover, select ’Australian Cruise’ as your country of destination to see your options.
You’ll be offered the international policy options and benefits, including cover for medical and evacuation benefit while at sea. No medical cover can be provided while in an Australian port.

You have the flexibility to choose when you buy your cover.
You can choose to buy travel insurance as soon as you pay for any part of your trip. This means you're covered in case your trip is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
You can also choose to get RACV Travel Insurance online right before you go. Even if you're just about to leave there's still time to pack an RACV Travel Insurance policy for your trip.

Update your policy
If you’ve made a mistake with your policy, please contact us as soon as possible. We’ll review the details and update the policy if possible.
Extend your policy
You can extend your policy at no extra cost if you experience a delay that’s covered by your policy. If you need to extend your policy for other reasons, you must apply for an extension before it expires. If your extension is approved you may need to pay an additional premium. The combined period of insurance cannot exceed 12 months. Refer to the Product Disclosure Statement for more details.
Cancel your policy
You have 21 days from the purchase date to decide if the policy suits your needs. If it doesn't, you can cancel within the "cooling-off period" for a full refund, provided you:
- haven't started your trip
- haven’t made a claim
- don’t intend to make a claim.
You can also request your policy to be cancelled outside of the 21-day “cooling-off period”. You’ll need to meet the above criteria. Your request will be reviewed and is subject to approval.
